The purpose of Turner Syndrome of the Carolinas is to create awareness and knowledge, promote research, and provide support for all those touched by Turner syndrome in the Carolinas and beyond.

Turner syndrome (TS) is a chromosomal abnormality that affects only girls and women. TS occurs when one of the X chromosomes is completely or partially missing. This occurs in about 1 in 2000 females. Turner syndrome can cause a variety of medical and developmental problems, including short height, failure to start puberty, infertility, heart defects, certain learning disabilities, and social adjustment problems.
